About Us

History of the Hospital

Forsyth Veterinary Hospital was established in 1955. Through the years there have been several owners. The practice was bought in July of 2005 by Dr. Ruth Gillis. She is the primary veterinarian and owner. In late 2006 she hired Dr. Christian Anderson as a relief veterinarian to work for her on Wednesdays. As the neighborhood around us continues to grow, so does the hospital.

Carla: Supervising Technician

I have been a technician for 16 years. I am married with two adult children and four grandchildren. My furry children are; Oreo, a three year old Shih-tzu, Vidalia, an eight year old Poodle mix, and Midnight, an eleven year old Tennessee Walker horse. I enjoy all aspects of the animal care profession as can be seen in my many years in the profession.

Becky: Technician

My passion for animals began from the time I was born and continued to grow from there. As a young adult, I tried many different jobs, but found that they were all just jobs and never gave me any real feeling of accomplishment. In 2000, I decided to follow my passion for animal care and go to work for a veterinary hospital. I started work as a kennel assistant, but was given an opportunity to do some technical work. I became a technician's assistant and was able to learn a great deal. I just love being a part of nursing a sick animal to good health! My husband and I have relocated several times and I have worked at numerous veterinary hospitals throughout the years. When I chose to join the family at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital, I knew I had finally found my career home. I appreciate the fact that the animals are the primary focus. I love my work family the values that are important to us all. I look forward to your visit with us. I hope you will have a pleasant and fulfilling experience at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital.

Elizabeth: Technician

I have been working at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital since June 2006, but have about three years experience working with animals. I thoroughly enjoy the work I do, and especially the rewarding feeling from helping the animals in need. I have quite a zoo at my house. There are five indoor cats that range in age from 4 months to 3 years. They all have their own personalities, but get along well. My canine family consists of four dogs: a Pomeranian named Chauncey, a Staffordshire terrier named Rukus, a Corgi mix named Shorty, and a Pitbull named Raisin.

Jill: Office Manager/Receptionist/Puppy Class

I have always had a respect and admiration for all animals as early as I can remember. I love working at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital, and I take great satisfaction in the job I do here, but I have to say my puppy class is definitely my pride and joy. I not only enjoy the animals, but I adore the clients too. I have about 6 years experience in the veterinary field, 4 years with puppy class. I currently live with two cats, Rupert and Wentworth. They were both hand raised kittens, but not from the same litter. I would like to have a dog one day, but not until I have more space and time to commit to a puppy.

Kathy: Receptionist

I began working at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital in July of 2006. The staff here is wonderful and I have really enjoyed being a part of their family. I have been around animals my whole life, from pet sitting and dog walking as a child to managing a boarding and grooming kennel for 4 years. I have also had quite a bit of experience with farm animals. This is my first time working in a Veterinary hospital and it has been an extremely rewarding experience for me. My animal family consists of 3 cats, Maddie, Mac, and Blue, and a very special and unique German Shepherd, named Rusty. I have a son named Cameron, whom I absolutely adore. I am currently going to school to obtain my Masters in Animal Science and hope to further pursue a career in an animal related field.

Dave: Kennel Asst. / Maintenance

I have always been known to treat others better than myself. I love animals of every species from the smallest of voles to domesticated cats, dogs, and more. I am married and I own three female dogs: Booby, who is 8 years old, Macey, who is 4 years old, and Tookie, my 2 year old Chihuahua. I have a great love and appreciation for my job here at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital. A wonderful bonus to the job is the people I work with. We function as a team, and I am proud to work with all of them.
