About Us

History of the Hospital

Forsyth Veterinary Hospital was established in 1955. Through the years there have been several owners. The practice was bought in July of 2005 by Dr. Ruth Gillis. She is the primary veterinarian and owner. As the neighborhood around us continues to grow, so does the hospital. At the present time, Dr. Gillis has two veterinary colleagues working with her (Dr. Beth Eubanks and Dr. Christian Anderson) to help keep all of the patients at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital in the best of health. We are a dedicated team and our goal is to provide your animals with the best care!

Dr. Ruth Gillis

Dr. Gillis earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science degree from Tuskegee University. She began practicing small animal medicine in upstate New York and moved to Winston-Salem, NC in 2001. Dr. Gillis has been in practice for 23 years and feels that veterinary medicine is the most rewarding profession. “I feel I have the best of both worlds, I am able to help our furry companions directly and in doing so, help the people that love and care for them.” She is dedicated to preventative medicine, and educating people on how to provide good quality health care. Dr. Gillis purchased Forsyth Veterinary Hospital in 2005. She employs a faithful, dedicated and compassionate staff. Dr. Gillis is a mother of two children. She adores her extended family of one dog, two cats, and tank of tropical fish. There is always an open invitation to meet Dr. Gillis and the staff at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Beth Eubanks

Dr. Eubanks is a native of Winston-Salem. She is a graduate of West Forsyth High School. From there she attended NC State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and her DVM degree. She returned home after graduation and has practiced in Winston-Salem and the surrounding area for 19 years. She decided to pursue veterinary medicine at a very young age, and has always loved all things four-legged. Her clinical interests include ophthalmology, especially eye surgery, and internal medicine. She currently shares her home with her husband, two teenage sons, a golden retriever, a lab mix, a longhaired miniature dachshund, one cat, and a guinea pig.

Dr. Christian Anderson

Dr. Anderson started working in veterinary hospitals as a teenager and never stopped. She received her DVM degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University. Over the course of her career, Dr. Anderson has worked with dogs, cats, mice, rats, rabbits, ferrets, and monkeys. Her special interest is in feline medicine and geriatrics. She lives at home with her 3 dogs and 2 cats, but her true passion and favorite cat is Frank.

Jill has a great respect and admiration for all animals. She has worked at Forsyth Veterinary Hospital since November of 2005, but previously had some experience at 2 other animal hospitals. Not only does she enjoy the animals, but she adores the clients she gets to work with as well. Jill has had some experience with dog training and in the past taught puppy classes.

Lindsay: Receptionist

Lindsay joined the Forsyth Veterinary Hospital team in January of 2010. This is her first experience working with animals and she loves what she does. Lindsay has a beautiful 12 year old black lab that lives at home with her parents. She also has a 4 year old black and white long hair cat named Beck who lives with her. Lindsay attended Appalachian State and graduated with degrees in journalism and advertising.

In 2008 her love for animals brought her back to the hospital. Holly currently lives with a 16 year old Chihuahua her family rescued about 7 years ago. She has also fostered many animals in her career and she takes great pride in helping owners keep their pets healthy and happy.

Rachel: Technician

Rachel has been working in the veterinary field since 2001, and is a certified medical assistant. She has lived in North Carolina for a total of 7 years, but grew up in Delaware.
